Love Hurts!

So...Nick loves to pick on me, real playground stuff like pushing me, poking me, generally just harassing me! LOL (men)! Well, Friday night, he was doing his usual routine thinking he is so hilarious and tried to pull me to him really fast to shake me (playfully of course) and my toe hit his shoe just right (I am not wearing shoes) and he kicked my whole toenail right off! Poof, gone!

I was very calm, because this is not my first rodeo, and was like, "well, you just tore my toenail off!" He didn't believe me until I pulled off my sock and we both almost threw up right there on the laundry room floor!!! He immediately goes to the kitchen and was like, "here drink some vodka!" Haha, good solution!

He went to the store and got supplies to bandage me up and he was very doctor-like trying to make me better. He felt so bad! Over the weekend it got worse instead of better. Neither or us had any idea how to tend to a wound like this so we just kept pouring peroxide on it.
I went to a podiatrist today and had minor in-office surgery to cut and clean everything out. Yum! I am so squeamish when it comes to nails and teeth it was horrible to sit through! I would have rather broke my arm because I can handle that haha. Such a baby.

Lesson learned: Nick will be more careful these days about how he plays around with me...probably not!

Around the House

Nick and I (and by that I mean ME) have been getting the house ready for his family to come out in a few weeks. I can't blame Nick, home decor is NOT on the top of a man's "favorite-things-to-do-list." But he has been a good sport nodding his head in agreement every time I ask "isn't that the cutest thing you've ever seen?!" "Doesn't that just look GREAT there?!" Haha. Good man. We are both very excited to be having his family out. We're having a BBQ for my birthday to have our families meet and then headed to a Rockies game for opening weekend. I am so excited to have baseball season back!

We are still trying to get the dogs trained and it seems like every step forward with these goof balls is two steps back. We have certain things NAILED and others are a "day-by-day" scenario. This is especially frustrating in the potty training department. I am going to use my volunteer resources though; a few of the ladies I volunteer with at the animal shelter are professional trainers and hopefully they can teach me a thing or two about talking to dogs! As Caesar say, "Be the pack leader!" And that is exactly what I am striving to be!

Nothing Lasts Forever...

So, I got in my car this morning, ready to get my day started and head to class in Greeley. Well, my car had other plans! It decided to die on me. Poor Winston (yes I name my cars). I was hoping that it would last until after graduation, then I could look into buying a new one. My mechanic AKA my best friend's husband came down and tweaked some parts for me. Turns out my battery cable was so corroded it wasn't sending any charges into the electrical systems. Funny thing is; a year ago, my same mechanic, made the exact same repair on my truck! WHAT AM I DOING TO THESE VEHICLES?!

We've decided that after I graduate and Nick returns home, I will get my new car. This time, something sporty (before responsibility and adulthood set it)! I think purchasing my very first car will be a sign I've "made it." I'm a real grown-up! HA. Here are my top choices:

1. Nissan Z

2. Nissan Altima

3. Audi TT

4. Scion TC

5. Mitsubishi Eclipse

Some Days You're Thankful

I had the best moment today. I was stuck behind a school bus in our neighborhood this afternoon and watched this Dad walk up to the door. Doors open and he reaches inside and pulls out this mess of hair, fluffy winter jacket, and over sized snow boots...aka his son. The boy wraps his arms around this big burly man of a Dad and is carried away. Then a Mom comes up the sidewalk and two more kiddos get off and grab each one of her hands and start their walk home. I don't know why this touched me, but it was one of those sweet and still moments that just makes you thankful to live in this wonderful country. That to me is the essence of the American dream/life.
