Ugly Christmas Sweaters...

We hosted an Ugly Christmas Sweater party last night. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and really got into making themselves look...ugly :)

Cricket AKA Peanuts Magoo....

Our little Cricket gave us quite the scare yesterday. When I came home from work he was throwing up. This in and of itself is not odd for Cricket as his breed is notorious for gastrointestinal problems. However, Cricket continued to throw up throughout the evening and eventually stopped walking around and his breathing became very labored. He was not his happy puppy self. Through the night his breathing continued to be short and shallow. We became increasingly concerned when he had not improved this morning and he refused to get out of bed. Our vet saw him right away and took an X--Ray. This revealed a large mass in his intestine, which we will refer to as "unidentified foreign object." The good news is, it would pass on it's own with any luck as it was not still lodged in his stomach. The bad news is, he had asphyxiated some of his vomit from earlier and it was not clogging his lungs. We are now watching for pneumonia and dehydration. Nick was able to stay home with him all day and keep a watchful eye out for any downward turns.. When I arrived home from work Mr. Cricket was not only drinking water on his own, but walking around as well! We are still watching his breathing for any signs of further problems, but we are definitely over the moon to know he will be OKAY!

First snow of the season...

We got our first snow of the season late last night/today. The unfortunate part about Colorado's weather is...it will not stay long. We are expected to be back into the 60s and 70s by the weekend. If you like change, Colorado is the state for you! You never know what weather you will get from one minute to the next. I love the winter, so I will enjoy the snow for as long as it decides to stay!
The snow accumulated on our patio table...those poor trees are just suffocated by the weight!

I Heart # 25...

I've been cheering on Nick each weekend on his new hockey league. The Beantown Bruins (#25)! They are kicking butt on the ice and we have quite the wives club started. I'm also back in school going for my Advanced Paralegal. Hopefully next fall it will be my master's program.

Spooky Happenings...

Everytime I try and do a "catch up post" I have technical problems with the website and am unable to post. So, for now, just what is currently happening! Fall is in the air in Colorado. The weather is getting crisp, the colors are changing, and Halloween fan-fare is in full swing.

I am making goody-bags for my co-worker this year.

Nick and I got up to Lake Dillion last weekend to view the colors.

Home Improvements...

Nick and I have been working hard around the yard and are slowly seeing improvements. We are trying to get the lawn in shape and add a little character to our home to distinguish us from our neighbors. We want to be the stars of the block. Give us a season and I am sure we will be there. Today we finished a raised planter by our front door. We finally found the columbines I've wanted since last season!

Recent Happenings...

Nick arrived home last weekend from his overdue deployment! Can't say I am surprised that he was held later than expected...oh, Army! I know everyone is extatic to have him back in the states safe and sound! He was awarded the Bronze Star while on deployment and I am so very proud of him!

One of the first chores we had on our "to-do" list was to get a new car since we only kept his truck while he was deployed. Here is what we decided on, my pretty new car!:

Nice weather means...new roof!

It is finally time to get our new roof! The house was damaged almost a year ago and tomorrow is the big day! A brand new roof!!! Granted we still have much more in the insurance claim to fix, this is definitely a great start after a long battle with the insurance company.
Nick will have something very shinny to come back to. My family has been helping me get the house decorated for Nick to return. I am very proud to say I upholstered our kitchen chairs this weekend. I am feeling like a natural Susie-Homemaker! :) Nick will be so thrilled (maybe not so much about chairs or decor, but to have a wife who can cook and do the feminine things).
