Christmas has come and gone this year before I even got into the holiday spirit. I worked Christmas morning and then was able to see the family for Christmas dinner. It was nice to spend time with everyone as I have been busy with finals for school lately. Santa was good to me and the whole family had a good time. Now to gear up for New Year...!!!

Getting Ready for Christmas...
We have been busy around the house putting up lights in preparation for Christmas. We did the basics in lighting this year and will continue building as the years pass. We look very festive though because NO ONE else on our block put up lights!!!

One year ago...
Nick and I got all gussied up to go out for a romantic dinner in celebration of our one year anniversary last week. December 1 was the night we met (at a heavy metal concert none-the-less) for the first time. It has been a great year and I can't wait to celebrate one more (although next year we will have to get more creative for our anniversary plans as he will be in Afghanistan then).
We are about halfway through putting up the lights on the outside of the house. The snowfalls that we have been getting are making it quite the challenge to finish! It is fun to shovel the drive (I say that now) and it feels a little more "winter wonderland-ish" as we get these winter storms. Winter in Colorado is definitely one of my favorite things!
We also decided to head downtown and see the Parade of Lights again this year. It was VERY cold but always worth the extra gloves in exchange for all the festivities. Next week we will be going to the Zoo Lights with some friends. Christmas is a great time of year to get out and explore Denver!

A little catch up...
A lot has happened in the past two weeks! So much so, that I have not had time to blog about it.
We closed on the house last Friday, got the keys and started the move-in process immediately! My brother and I handled my things from my house, and Nick used his truck to get out of his apartment. (He was very excited to never have to see that place again!) Well, Nick started moving around 14:30, and we finally called it quits at 20:30 when he was lying on the bathroom floor unable to move...
After much hesitation and resistance on Nick's part (darn men), I demanded we go to Urgent Care. After three failed locations, I find one that is open until midnight and drive Nick to get checked. He had a 103 degree temperature and had lost about 10lbs because he couldn't keep anything down. Tes
ted negative for flu (stay away H1N1). The doctor prescribed Tama-Flu, Ibuprofen, and plenty of rest. The first night in our new house I was up every 3hrs to give Nick pills and juice...welcome home!
The next morning, Nick was moving furniture again! That man is stubborn!
We got settled in over that weekend and Nick started to recover. (He is just now getting over the last of it.)
We have met a handful of the neighbors and they seem very friendly and professional. We are by far the youngest home-owners on the block. At least we don't have to worry about those "young hooligans!" Haha.
Today, I met with a graduation counselor and confirmed my graduation for May of 2010. One semester left and I will be at the end of this road...finally! Then to begin my masters education. Oh boy!

Sheer Excitment!
Tomorrow, Nick and I are closing on our house! I am so excited that this day is finally here (one week late). There is so much to be done and at the same time it signifies the end of a lot of chaos. Who knew the real-estate world could be so complex and hectic?! Well, these first time home buyers surely did not! Everything will pay off tomorrow at noon when we close and have house keys in our hands...
